PROSPECTS UPDATE (12/29/2007)
D - Brian Salcido, 6-2, 198, Shoots Left
Portland Pirates, AHL
Born:  4/14/1985, Los Angeles, CA,
Drafted:  Rd. 5, pick 141 in 2005
Leading scorer among AHL blueliners, this Los Angeles
native would be playing in the NHL for most teams.  As it
stands now, he's stuck behind a Ducks defense corps
that may be the deepest in the NHL.  Excellent skater and
rarely makes bad decisions on the ice.
LW - Andrew Ebbett, 5-10, 174, Shoots Left
Portland Pirates, AHL
Born:  1/2/1983, Vernon, B.C., Canada,
Drafted:  signed as a free agent in 2007
Michigan grad is a playmaker (25 assists in 32 games),
but do smaller players
(5-10, 174) fit with Duck's organizational philosophy?
D - Mark Mitera, 6-3, 211, Shoots Left
MIchigan Wolverines, NCAA
Born:  10/22/1987, Royal Oak, MI,
Drafted:  Rd. 1, pick 19 in 2006
Michigan native is another big (6-3, 211) blueliner for the
Ducks.  He provides the veteran leadership on a blueline
made up of 4 freshman and 2 sophomores.
LW - Matt Beleskey, 6-0, 202, Shoots Left
Belleville Bulls, OHL
Born:  6/7/1988, Windsor, Ont., Canada,
Drafted:  Rd. 4, pick 112
Five goals shy of the career best 27 he scored last year,
has stepped up as one of the team’s leading scorers
this year.
C - Brett Morrison, 5-11, 192, Shoots Left
Prince Edward Island Rocket, QMJHL
Born:  7/25/1987, Sydney, N.S., Canada,
Drafted:  Rd. 5, pick 151 in 2007
Morrison is the captain of the Rocket, and he's having an
impressive season with 49 points in 35 games.  P.E.I. is
struggling, however.  Rumors are already starting to swirl
about the veteran scorer being traded to a contending
toeam in this, his final junior season.  At 5-11, 188, he is
thin but has the frame to add some bulk.
