The Ducks struggled to produce points outside of their top line last year,
and that doesn't seem to change this year.  Brandon McMillan will provide
youthful legs playing with Koivu and Selanne, who continues to defy age.

Lubomir Visnovsky
Tony Lydman
Francois Beauchemin
Cam Fowler
Luca Sbisa
Matt Smaby
Visnovsky and Fowler are two of the most gifted offensive defensemen in
the NHL.  Fowler figures to get better in his own end, and when Kurtis
Foster returns from an early injury the quality here will increase
dramatically.  The Ducks are very strong on the bank end.
Jonas Hiller
Dan Ellis
Anaheim's whole season hinges on the health of Jonas Hiller.  He is
good enough to get this team in the playoffs if he is completely over his
vertigo-like symptoms that ended his season a year ago.  When he went
down, Ellis couldn't hold the fort and Ray Emery got them into the
post-season.  Emery is gone now, so it all comes down to Hiller.
YOUNG AMERICANS

Who broke out in 2010-2011

4-D-Cam Fowler, 12/5/1991, 6-1, 190, Windsor, Ont (came up through USNDTP)
2010-11 stats:  76 GP, 10-30-40, -25, 6 PPG
he put those stats up as an 18 year-old rookie defenseman. plus/minus could improve,
and you figure it will as he gains experience, but those are impressive offensive totals for
a defenseman, period.

Who is ready to break out in 2011-12

51-RW- Kyle Palmieri, 2/1/1991, 5-10, 194, Smithtown, NY
Great speed, scored 29 goals as an AHL rookie. Played in 10 games and scored one
goal with the Ducks last year. Will be given a chance at a top 6 spot if the Ducks struggle
to score. 26th pick in the 2009 draft left Notre Dame after one year.

66-RW-Emerson Etem, 6/16/1992, 6-0, 190, Long Beach, CA
Ducks need a goal scorer for a line to compliment their top line of Getzlaf, Perry and
Ryan. Etem, drafted 29th in 2010, will probably compete with Palmieri for that spot.
According to a report from the Orange County Register, Etem showed a willingness to
go to the front of the net and get physical for scoring chances last season. Scored 37
and 45 goals for Medicine Hat of the WHL the past 2 seasons.
