YOUNG AMERICANS

Who is ready to break out in 2011-12
51-RW-Brandon Kozun, 5-9, 164, 3/8/1990, Los Angeles, CA
Twice topped 100 points in the WHL, which is considered the hardest CHL league to
score in.  His size will always be held against him, but he just keeps scoring.  Last
season as an AHL rookie he put up 23-25-28 with 10 powerplay goals.  It's hard to
ignore guys who create goals, regardless of size.  He needs to take advantage of any
chance he earns with the big club to avoid becoming a career minor league scorer,
stuck in the minor leagues (i.e. the next Brett Sterling or Keith Aucoin). Figures to battle
fellow American Scott Parse for a top 6 spot in camp.
Keeping Kopitar's line healthy will be the key.  Very balanced group here as the
top 2 lines can score with anyone, and there's grit galore with the bottom 6.
Hunter and Moreau add veteran leadership, and Dustin Brown should benefit
from playing with the former Flyers.
Doughty is one of the premier defenseman in the game.
Jack Johnson isn't too far behind him and gives LA a
decent 1-2 punch.  Scuderi, Mitchell and Greene are
great in their own end, willing to sacrifice their bodies to
stop chances.  Drewiske gives them a reliable #7.
Every year folks want to annoint Bernier as
the starter, yet every year Quick keeps putting
up great numbers.  Bernier is struggling to
match Quick's performance in the 25-30
games he's getting in the backup role, but as
long as Quick's producing, why change?
