YOUNG AMERICANS
Who is ready to break out in 2011-12
12-RW-Jack Skille, 6-1, 215, R, 5/19/1987, Madison, WI
Skille has incredible wheels and isn't afraid to play gritty. He's got the frame to become
an effective power forward, and his game should mesh well with Bergenheim and Goc.
he will get a shot in the top six when injuries or ineffectiveness occur, and playing with
Weiss or Booth, even for 20 games or so, should make 25 goals a real possibility for
him.
Weiss and Booth are the keys. If they have big seasons, Fleischmann,
Versteeg and company will benefit. There is depth and speed here. It
just seems as if GM Tallon went shopping among other teams' "misfit
toys" and is hoping they all fit together. There's potential, but not many
sure things.
I like this group. Campbell can control a game and has elite
offensive talent. Jovo can still give you high end play, if not top
2 minutes. Garrison has a bomb from the point, but needs to
play physical and stay healthy. Gudbranson and Kulikov are a
season or two from being dominant. Even Keaton Ellerby, the
7th guy, is a former 1st rounder (2007) who is 22 and plays a
shut down role that will get better as he fills out his 6-4 frame.
Markstrom is the future here and will get a
chance to get his feet wet at the NHL level
with Clemmensen out to start the season.
Theodore has put up impressive seasons
the past 2 years and is a very capable #1 guy.
Clemmensen has made a career of
excelling as the #2 guy.
